The format of the end of year games for the Tri-City League has changed from prior years.
The following items outline some of the more pertinent changes that are affecting West Fargo Baseball at various levels. It has been a very busy off season to say the least, but we want to take this opportunity to communicate some of the upcoming changes.
We are excited to announce that West Fargo Baseball is entering into its first charter with Little League Baseball. This change will bring with it new opportunities for various levels of play. We will continue to also have a Cal Ripken presence at most age levels. More information regarding the changes surrounding this can be found in the document below. Of course we will also be discussing these in more depth at the annual parent meeting in April.
These changes will not affect how we conduct registration for the summer of 2018. Registration for all League and Travel players will be opening the first or second week in December and will continue to be open through February 14.
West Fargo Baseball has made the decision that we will no longer have a 15 Year Old Travel team. Players who wish to continue with this level of commitment and play will tryout to play Legion Baseball for West Fargo beginning at age 15. WF Baseball will have 3 Legion teams beginning in 2018(Patriots, Aces and Vets). The Patriots will be 18 and under, the Aces will be 16 and under and the Vets will be 17 and under. This change will take place beginning this summer in 2018.
Any players who played League baseball as a 14 year old and wish to play baseball in the summer of 2018 will still need to register to play Babe Ruth as you have in the past. If you also wish to tryout for Legion you will be allowed to do so. All players will be alerted to this at the appropriate time. Legion tryouts do not occur until after the varsity high school season has concluded which is usually the first part of June.
We will continue to offer League baseball as we have in the past at the 15YO level with no changes to the registration process or team formation.
Any questions pertaining to this can be directed to Gerald Urlaub.
We would like to take this opportunity to announce an upcoming age change for the summer of 2019. This will NOT affect the Level Of Play for 2018!
Beginning in the summer of 2019 WF Baseball will begin to use the new Little League age chart for all 12 and under players. The cut off date for players 12 and under in 2018 is May 1. The new cut off date for players 12 and under in 2019 will be September 1. This change will affect players who have a May, June, July or August birthday only.
Babe Ruth ages (13-15) will continue to use May 1 as their cut off date into the foreseeable future.
More discussion surrounding this age change will take place at the Parent Meeting in April.
Babe Ruth League has implemented new bat rules for the 2018 season that will affect all divisions of post season tournament play. These changes will go into effect for our local league in the 2018 season.
Below is a breakdown of the changes. Please be aware of these when purchasing bats for this upcoming season as they may only be good for 1 year.
The following document will outline some questions that parents and players of Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken may have.
