West Fargo Baseball Updates

Announcement from West Fargo Baseball Board regarding 10, 11 and 12 Year Travel and League Teams

After receiving feedback from last year’s group we are trying to continually evolve the alignment of our teams to give the best experience possible to the greatest number of kids.  There are certain parameters that we as an organization still have to work within given our affiliation with outside groups such as Cal Ripken and Little League.  We also have to do what we can to foster our relationship with our local partners such as Fargo Youth Baseball.  With all of this in mind, we will be making a few changes for the 10, 11 and 12 year old groups for the 2019 season.

There will be one A team formed from tryouts.  This team will compete at the Cal Ripken level.  In addition to the A team we will also form 1-2 league teams that will compete in the Major division of League.  Lastly, the remaining players at the 10 year old level will compete in the Minor league division of League.  The number of teams at each division will be dictated by the total number of players.  All players competing in both the Major and Minor divisions would be eligible to make the Little League All-Star team.

Our hopes with this is that we can give both the Major and Minor teams a better playing experience.  We have heard from some that they want to play a more competitive level of baseball within the league.  We also want to give those in the Minor division the greatest experience possible by aligning the schedule to play like competition to maximize their experience.  This should also setup better for practices for each of these levels.  Overall, we are listening to what the experiences were last year and trying to make changes that will allow for an overall better experience for everyone.

As always, we are open to feedback either before or after the season.  Email is probably the best way to provide this as it is then easy for us to share it internally with the board when it is appropriate to do so.  You can email any board member or our general email address is

Bat Changes - Effective 2018

Babe Ruth League has implemented new bat rules for the 2018 season that will affect all divisions of post season tournament play. These changes will go into effect for our local league in the 2018 season

Below is a breakdown of the changes.  Please be aware of these when purchasing bats for this upcoming season as they may only be good for 1 year.

  • The following changes went into effect in 2018:
    • Cal Ripken Division has approved the use of bats that have a barrel of 2 5/8” in diameter.  Previously it was 2 ¼”.
    • All bats for all divisions that are not BBCOR .50 MUST HAVE a USABat logo stamped on them.  Sales of these bats will begin in the fall of 2017.  Any bats without this will not be allowed in 2018 with the exception of BBCOR.
